July 11 - 12, 2010
We all met at the airport and I can't believe how organized the JAL employees are. The check-in process was fast. They checked our bags, gave us our tickets and we were on our way to the gate...FAST! Hey Hawaiian Airlines could learn something from this carrier, honestly. We're on the plane and it's the biggest plane I've ever been on (10 across). It's an 8 hour flight and everything is complimentary, do you believe it? Service is excellent but I have to say, it's a bit warm in the plane. We have our "special" circulation socks on and it works....thank God for my friend who recommended it. Our flight didn't seem that long...watched a couple of movies and played solitaire...had a few drinks and took a nap.
It's July 12th upon arrival....lost a day. The Japan Customs processed us through so smoothly. So efficient! Got my SIM card, got a snack at the airport and we're off on our 2 hour ride on a Limo Bus to Kyoto. Nice! Taxied it to Karasuma Kyoto Hotel. Yikes, the room is warm, just like the plane and the bus. I'm feeling very excited about being here and I'm looking forward to venturing out tomorrow. But for tonight, George & I took a walk down the street to the convenience store and picked up a snack, looked around a bit then went back to the hotel, took a nice hot shower and tried to get some rest. We're still on Hawai'i time so it's hard to sleep.Excitement's in the air!
